How Catch Co. enhanced email deliverability and personalization

Catch Co is a multi-brand company (including brands such as Mystery Tackle Box and Karl’s Fishing & Outdoors) on a mission to build incredible customer experiences and communities that celebrate fishing and the outdoors.
With 40,000 Mystery Tackle Box subscribers, 30,000 Karl’s Club Members, and 14 owned brands that each have unique segments, customer engagement is a top priority.
Challenges
Before moving to Simon Data, Catch Co lacked the tooling and full access to data necessary to target specific customer segments meaningfully on a brand-by-brand basis when managing deliverability.
This resulted in less-than-accurate sunsetting practices that did not substantially improve inboxing results. Generally, open rates and click-through rates were down across brands. Without a multi-brand infrastructure approach and easy access to full contact engagement data, Catch Co could not target strategic fixes for one brand without impacting the other.
Before Simon Data, Catch Co had low visibility into customer email engagement per brand. This resulted in limited experimentation opportunities and insight into each respective customer base.
Solution
Simon Data helped Catch Co rethink their multi-brand approach by focusing on email deliverability and IP warming. With strategically warmed IP addresses and sending infrastructures dedicated to each brand, Catch Co was able to target deliverability fixes down to the specific brand and impacted mailbox provider without impacting the other.
Catch Co and Simon Data have also been focused on improving performance across each brand. Thanks to Simon Data’s segmentation capabilities, Catch Co’s marketing team can see customer behavior per brand and take action based on that behavior.
For example, if one of their brands had non-members start to unsubscribe from marketing emails over the past few months, Catch Co was able to segment non-members for lighter email touches in a campaign.

Results
With Simon Data, Catch Co had access to full contact email and brand engagement data allowing them to use the IP warming process and multi-brand strategy to get more email to the inbox than ever before.
Catch Co was able to see engagement scores from certain lapsed subscribers. With this data, they realized that this segment engaged with different types of emails than their more engaged and active subscribers. This allows Catch Co to cater content to segment needs.
